As you may already know, videos can trigger a wide range of emotions, including happiness, anger, fear, surprise, sadness and more. What kind of emotions will a video showing a soldier’s surprise homecoming will produce? If you’ve never seen one of those videos of a soldier returns home after months of deployment and amazes his or her family – well, take a look at this short video:
If the sound was on when you watched the video, then you probably heard the girls screaming out so loud that you can hear it even if you cover your ears with both hands. But we can understand the reason for their excited reactions – the person that they love and miss so much after months of military service is right in front of them! Can you imagine their feelings? They probably felt a mix of emotions like excitement, astonishment, joy, love and perhaps even anxiety and sadness for having to live their life separated from their loved one.
The US army has more than 1.3 million soldiers in active duty as of February 2019 and this number is expected to grow even further in the coming years. From these facts we can easily understand that the exciting scenes of soldiers surprising their loved ones are not going to stop and we probably going to see and hear more videos and stories like those mentioned in this post.
As you may already know, some people are more emotional than others and are more likely to shed some tears when exposed to heartbreaking moments. Did you manage to not cry and hold your tears in these scenes? Some of you probably did manage to do so but you sure did feel sympathy for these people in the video (and especially for the cute children!).
Well, let’s see if you can stop yourself from crying while watching this video down below. In this video you can see a mother surprising her son at his school after one year of military deployment:
As you can see, the mother is so excited and happy to finally meet her son that she can’t stop her tears while preparing to surprise her child. The other adults in the hallway couldn’t remain calm in the event and some of them even shed some tears of happiness. Apparently, only the mother and the teachers knew about this surprise so it’s no wonder that the other kids also seemed excited and amazed.
Her son, Dante, got so shocked that it took him a couple of seconds to realize what’s happening and finally hug his mom that is dressed in military uniform. Imagine how hard it is for him to live his childhood without his mother by his side – he didn’t hug or touch her for about a year, so this precious moment must mean so much for this wonderful child.
We can also find videos of soldiers who are fathers that surprise their families and kids. For example, take a look at this video featuring Josh Rasmussen:
Josh surprises his children at school and his daughter, Torey, even burst into tears. His other kids also seemed very happy, excited and shocked to see their beloved father visit them at their school.
It’s true that these scenes might be interesting and entertaining to watch and our heart goes out to these soldiers and their families. However, these situations can be quite sad for these kids that may very well spend most of their childhood without one of their parents.
How will it affect the children when they grow up? Will the absence of their mother or father cause any psychological issues? Is it possible that the fact that they can still talk and see their military parent by using their phone or internet make it easier for these kids to cope with this strange situation?
Let’s not forget that adults’ point of view – it can also be tough for them to live their life or raise their family when their mate or child is serving in the military far away from their home. We wish these people all the best in life and hope that they will overcome the obstacles and challenges that are thrown in their path.
