More than 20 years have passed since the release of the first film in the Matrix trilogy. After months of rumors and news about the upcoming forth Matrix film we are about to experience the thrill of a new Matrix 4 movie! It’s official now!
Will Keanu Reeves still play The One? What is going to happen in this film and which actors are going to be cast in which roles are only some of the questions you may ask yourself.

What is The Keanu Reeves Day?
Apparently, another film starring Keanu Reeves will be released in the same day: John Wick: Chapter 4. It means that May 21, 2021 will be the debut date of two successful (probably) films starring the same actor as the main protagonist. This may very well be an unforgettable day which is going to be all about Keanu and his films – and we sure hope to enjoy his acting.
If we rely on the belief that history does tend to repeat itself – there is a good chance that both of these films are going to be hits. The Matrix trilogy had a budget of $363 million and made more than $1.6 billion worldwide. The second film, The Matrix Reloaded, was so lucrative that for 13 years it remained the highest grossing R-rated movie in history. The John Wick franchise was also quite successful and made more than $580 million worldwide on a low budget.

Many of the top action actors that we know and love were actually trained by Taran Butler (a world champion American shooter) in a firearm range. In this video you can see what they do in these training lessons and you may even spot some familiar faces other than the one and only Keanu Reeves (did anyone mention Halle Berry?).
As you can see, these stars take their job very seriously. They invest a lot of time and work very hard to create a compelling and realistic experience for us by focusing on all those little details that us average joes would never think about. Is it what made these actors so successful? Or maybe it’s the other way around – the top actors are just encouraged or “forced” to go through these types of lessons?
Young Morpheus
If you’re wondering what exactly is going to happen in the new Matrix 4 film then you are probably going to be disappointed to hear that we have almost no plot details other than rumors. We still have no idea if it’s going to be a sequel, prequel or something else. Moreover, there are rumors that the new movie is going to feature a young Morpheus. Morpheus is played by the American actor Laurence Fishburne. However, we still don’t know if the new Matrix film will feature Laurence. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in talks for a starring role in the upcoming movie. He is famous for playing Black Manta in the Aquaman movie.
There are speculations that Abdul-Mateen is going to play young Morpheus which possibly indicates that the next film is going to be a prequel rather than a sequel – but in the crazy world of Matrix – who knows what they’ll come up with?
Other Famous Actors
Do you remember that Neo actually fell in love with Trinity and that they both died in the end? Well, you will probably be happy to hear that Carrie-Ann Moss, which played Trinity in all 3 Matrix movies, will make a come back in the upcoming film. It’s going to be very interesting to see how they “revive” both of these characters.
Another famous actor that joined the cast of Matrix 4 is Neil Patrick. He is known for his role in the television series “How I Met Your Mother”. It is actually his first role in a major franchise so it’s curious to see him playing along with big stars like Keanu Reeves.
Jessica Henwick is one more interesting star that might get a lead role in Matrix 4 according to Deadline Hollywood. There’s been some rumors that the Matrix 4 directors are looking for a female-like Neo actress and it may very well be Jessica that already played in numerous films and television series like Iron Fist.
